Our two trained Chefs, Sam Smith, Dane Machin and Trainee Chefs Chris Sifleet and Megan Booth prepare and cook some of the best pub food in the area with locally sourced produce, our master butcher is H.H Jackson Ltd of Longton who provide some of the finest and freshest meats in the area and our greengrocers are Cuttleford Farm who supply us with top quality vegetables and fresh bread daily along with Fresh Fish supplied by Neve of Fleetwood . Our Ice Cream is supplied by Cheshire Farm Ice Cream just up the road in Tarporley. 

All our meals are homemade and we endeavour to offer great food at affordable prices, with a friendly service and great beers. Obviously good freshly cooked food takes time and we recommend anyone who dines with us not to be in a hurry, but we are sure you will be glad you waited when your food reaches your table.

 The Rising Sun has 75 seats for dining consisting of 20 in our New Daams Room, 24 in our Main Restaurant with the remainder in our bar lounge area, ideal for that special evening meal with a wide choice of Starters, Main Courses and Desserts all freshly prepared on the premises, plus spectacular Cheshire Farm Ice Creams.

We can also cater for special occasions such as weddings, christenings and funerals, offering a range of buffets for up to 60 persons starting from as little as £7.50 p/h.

Please be aware that the maximum single table size we can cater for is 12 persons, we can cater for larger groups and can arrange bespoke and fixed price menus on request. Wade (The Landlord) is a fan of Fine Wine and Real Ale and takes a great pride in his beers and wine (through extensive research, of course), we currently have five Real Ales, two rotating Guest Ales along with regular favourites such as, Marston's Saddle Tank, Marston's Pedigree and Jennings Cockerhoop plus Weston's Old Rosie Traditional Cider.

The Rising Sun is a popular location with both boating and walking enthusiasts. The Rising Sun has been a part of village life her in Scholar Green since the 1870's and is very proud of the pubs history, with a number of people who have ran the pub in the past and their families still visiting. The pub has had many different people running it over the years, even a famous footballer, the majority of whom have gone out of their way to keep and maintain it's warm homely feel which people wish to come back to time and time again.
